A Successful Sunday With Cards for Some Challenges

Hello everyone!! Just popping in to post a couple of cards I created for some challenges.

I had a bit of time today to create. My mojo has been a bit spotty and my energy low so I have not been getting into my craft room as of late. It doesn't help that I really need TO CLEAN because it sure is a mess!!!

For my first card, I used this weeks sketch from the Paper Craft Crew for my card. Please excuse the photo. I could not fix the lighting on it no matter how hard I tried!

Below is the sketch that inspired me.

I was a little bit liberal with the elements on my card because they wound up being a bit bigger then what is represented in the sketch.

I literally used elements that were previously stamped or die cut for other projects to put this card together.

The flowers are from Altenew and Paper Trey Ink, the circle is from MFT, the envelope was cut from a die from Mama Elephant and the sentiment was from Hello Bluebird.

This was one of the EASIEST cards I have created in a long time and will be sent out tomorrow to a member of the Union I belong to.

My second card I created using this weeks The Color Throwdown #619 and Watercooler Wednesday Challenge #297.

I knew when I saw the badge for the Color Throwdown that I wanted to use my new Tall Tree dies I bought from The Stamp Market and my Skinny Postage Frames from PTI. These were some of my new toys I bought to try to get my mojo going!!

I created the blue background on this with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink and watered down white acrylic paint.

The sentiment is from a stamp set that was gifted to me from Stamplorations.

I absolutely LOVE how this card came out!!!

My next card was inspired by this weeks Freshly Made Sketches #461 and once again, I used the Color Throwdown colors.

This card was one I originally designed for The Color Throwdown but I liked the one above better.

I used some paper from my scrap drawer for the background and the greenery is from The Greetery.

The poinsettia is from the Layered Poinsettia from Spellbinders. I used Copic markers to shade it in BUT as I was doing it, I failed to do a color test with my background paper. I wound up having to fix my mistake by using more colors than I wanted so it is more blue than white.

The middle of the flower got muddled too because I was impatient for the Silver Stickles to dry. They were supposed to resemble the tiny flower in the middle of the poinsettia but when I was doing my layers, I didn't let the previous one dry enough!!!

I will fix it by layering some more over it once the first layer dries.

My last card I created using the Inspired By Challenge #150 and the sketch as my inspiration.

I used a Santa image from Simple Stories Simple Vintage North Pole Collection

I keep buying these darn pre made die cuts and never use them but this image was PERFECT for this challenge.

I actually altered the die cut by cutting some things off this side that just didn't go with this aesthetic. I also covered the fur and hat with a Scrapbook.com Clear Glitter Marker and the hat with some Glossy Accents

The snowflakes are from a huge amount I die cut last winter and the sentiment is from Uniko Stamps.

Well, I think that is enough from me today. I thank you for taking your time to stop by and I hope you have a FABULOUS night!!

Happy World Cardmaking Day!!

Hi everyone!! I am celebrating World Cardmaking Day with CAS-ual Fridays Stamps.

Are you making cards today? I know I am!! I cleaned up my room so that I had room to make some cards!!!

One of the things I am doing is using products and trying techniques that I rarely use.

I actually blended Distress Oxide inks on RED paper for the background, using reds, corals, greens and yellows. I wanted to try to use the inks on colored cardstock and see what happened. It did NOT come out as I thought it would but it was fun to try.

I then used the Curtis Stencil and a combination of Fossilized Amber and Lucky Clover Distress Ink over the blended background.

The flowers are from Pretty Posies that I colored in with Copic markers.

The finishing touches were done using a Nuvo Clear Gloss Pen, some Glossy Accents and Nuvo Crystal Drops in Blushing Red.

Hop on over to the CAS-ual Fridays Stamps Blog for some more fun with the Design Team and to enter to win some prizes!!! I hope you join our Linky Party!!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by!!! Have a FABULOUS day!!

A Couple of Challenge Cards

Hello everyone!! Just popping in to post a couple of challenge cards I created this afternoon. It is the second weekend in a row that I have not only had time but ideas for some of the challenges.

My first card I created for Freshly Made Sketches #377 and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-Anything Goes.

I started off by literally flicking on three colors of mist on a white, top folding, A2 card front. Then I added an orange circle and a peachy colored square, mimicking the placement from the sketch below.
Then I added some orange roses and some greenery, which are from Altenew's "Vintage Rose" stamp set. Last week I had stamped a BUNCH of these roses in three different colors and put them aside to use on future cards.

My last step was to add some orange confetti randomly around the flowers.

Where did the orange come in from then? It was from a photo from Pinterest that was a challenge on a private FB page I belong to.

My second card I created is for CASE this Sketch #311.

I used a stamp by Gorjuss which I have had FOREVER!! I used Copic markers to color it in and then used a get well sentiment from WPlus9's "Get Well Gang"stamp set on the the bag label.

I die cut the little girl using an MFT die and popped the middle up using foam.

This is a pretty simple design but I really wanted to emphasize the image rather then use any pattern papers. I added several moonstone confetti sequins around the image for a little bling.

Well, that is all from me today. I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a FABULOUS night!!

Turning Fifty and a Card for a few Challenges

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a FABULOUS Sunday.

This weekend has been eventful. On Friday I turned fifty.

I have to admit that this has not hit me well. I don't mind the wisdom that comes with age but I do not like the puffiness under the eyes, the crows feet or the forehead wrinkles. I can die the gray out but I cannot fix my slowing metabolism or how I want to still dress like I am younger than I am.

That said, I was pleasantly surprised by my day this year because I knew my husband would not be home to celebrate it. My day started with cupcakes made by one of my co-workers and a rendition of Happy Birthday with a lap dance by one of my crazy friends. (She is a hoot!!)

I received a TON of texts and when I got home, I had an edible arrangement on my door step from my best friend.

I then went to get a pedicure and it was so relaxing!! My husband came home a bit early from his meeting and we had cake that he had made me the night before. So the moral of the story is, my birthday was so much better then I thought it would be. I don't know what the rest of the year will hold but the actual day was pretty darn good!!

Now on to why I am REALLY posting today. I created a card for a couple of challenges. My inspiration was the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #375 and this week's Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge-black/white/ and one other color.

Below is the card I created:

To be honest, this was NOT how I wanted this to turn out. I originally was going to keep the color scheme primarily white, with a touch of pink and black on the sentiment strip. HOWEVER, as things go, I messed the design up totally by adding the pink mist.

I was doing really well until I decided to actually spray it on rather then take the spray part on and use the bottom of it to "throw" it on my card like I usually do. Instead of throwing it away, I added some Tonic Clear Sparkle Marker over the top of the rose so it was visible.

Sometimes you have to make do with what you have so here it is!!

I appreciate you stopping by today. Have a GREAT night!!

Time Out Challenges #83, Happy Little Stampers May Challenge: Anything Goes with Dies and a Card for As You See It Challenge #149

Happy Monday!! Just popping in with two cards that I created this weekend for three challenges.

I made this first card for a co-worker who had surgery last week.

The inspiration for this card was Hannelie's card from Time Out Challenges #83. I mimicked her blending that she did on her card and used black and white flowers like she did.

I am also playing with Happy Little Stampers May: Anything Goes With Dies.

I used a dies by PaperTrey Ink for the frame and the stamped flowers.

A little simpler then my usual style but I like how it came out. I also used some scraps up, like the frame, that I had die cut to make sure the die worked. Am I crazy for doing that?

I will be sending this card out with some magazines and a GC for iTunes as a little pick me up.

My second card I created for "As You See It Challenge #149." I flipped the sketch below for my card.

And here is my creation:

The three elements are the hedgehog, the tree stump and the mushroom together. I know this is a bit of a stretch but it is "as you see it!"

I used used Distress Ink in two colors for the blended background. Instead of a banner, I used a die cut word covered in clear Spectrum Noir Sparkle and Glossy Accents.

I thank you for taking the time to stop by. Have a fabulous day!!
